Through shared meals and storytelling, Culinary Connections connects Colorado Springs residents with the rich culinary traditions and lived experiences of our chefs.
Culinary Connections is a platform for women to share their culture with their new communities- while also supporting their families.

G has an infectious smile and creates colorful jewelry reflecting the vibrant hues of Afghanistan. Her husband speaks 6 languages and manages maintenance for a building complex. Their three young children (ages 12, 8 and 5) are smart and love school. G is improving her English and eager to learn to drive.
Wife M and husband K and their two young boys, arrived recently in 2024. K has gotten a job and the oldest boy is in elementary school. M is working on learning English while caring for her youngest child.
N and her husband D are from Afghanistan. She entered the United States on December 5, 2023 after they were approved by the United States government for a Green Card. She is a resident of Colorado. Her husband has been working for Amazon since they arrived in Colorado. They have 4 children. Their eldest son is 12 years old and he is in seventh grade. Their second son is 10 years old and he is in fourth grade. Their third child is in second grade. Their youngest daughter has not started school yet. N is interested in a cooking job. She knows cooking skills. If she gets some support, she will open a restaurant in the future.
R came to the United States in January 2024 and started a new life with her husband. Her husband A came to the United States in 2018. During the U.S. mission in Afghanistan, he worked with American soldiers. They have one son. Her husband works in a restaurant, and she is currently unemployed. R is trying to learn English so that she can manage my life in the United States in the best way possible. R is also working on learning how to drive.
